Looking For Contributors

If we're to truly cover all LARPs in the Ohio area, we'll be needing a few more contributors. Tim and I really only cover two game systems - NERO and Exiles, so there's a pretty big need for help from other games!

Next week, we'll be heading for Origins and we'll be twisting some arms to get some help on the blog. In the meantime, if you know someone who is involved in any of the following games who might be interested in contributing to this site, let us know in the comments or send an email to larp.plot.tips@gmail.com!

Alliance
Amtgard
Belegarth
Dagorhir
Triumph

Or, of course, any other organized game I may have forgotten. We want you all.

Edit: We would also take contributors from historical re-enactors, like the SCA, as there is a lot of crossover from LARP combat to what they do.

  1. SCA isn't a LARP. It's a historical re-enactment group. Just because there's combat doesn't mean it's a LARP :) If you're covering re-enactors, there are tons more you can add to the list, but I think that might be outside the scope of your main focus.

Also, there are a number of LARP communities out there, though I don't know of any focused specifically on Ohio. For instance, larplist.com and the LARP network (etc). You can probably get some ideas from them to cross-promote if you're looking at covering just Ohio.

    Good luck!

  2. Thanks for the input!

Honestly, I would lean more towards all of reenactmet as being LARPing. Roleplaying doesn't necessarily mean magic. Someone once defined it to me as "If you have a fake name and acting like someone else, you're LARPing." But beyond that, there are significant rules dictating the combat, which don't exist in a lot of other forms of reenactment.

I'm still interested in SCA input, although I will make sure I specify that they are re-enactors.
